Sri Lanka ☀

My work sprouts from my daily musings and humorous observations of ordinary life while living in different countries around the world. I created this collection during my time living in tropical Sri Lanka, an insanely beautiful little gem of an island nation in the middle of the Indian Ocean. (IMHO-you must visit Sri Lanka- it is gorgeous and so are its people!)

I started each piece by hand-painting and printing papers in unapologetically bright colors. I then find inspiring shapes and patterns within my papers and build on whatever draws me in. I often use uncontrolled, even messy marks, because, well, life is messy and the world is messy. Also, by, staying loose in my process, I land on the delightfully unexpected: vibrant, tactile art pieces full of color that bring a smile and remind us of the good in life.
