In Sri Lanka, people frequently use the term “sister” to address unrelated friends, neighbors or friendly strangers of a similar age as a sign of warmth and respect. This one is inspired by all of the kind-hearted, open and positive women I have met on my travels. Who comes to mind when you think of a kind and optimistic “sister?”
