A famous Sri Lankan architect called Geoffrey Bawa (1919-2003) was known for building beautiful “tropical modernism” structures that bring the outdoors into internal spaces. You can see his work all over Sri Lanka.The Gallery Café is one of his many beautiful buildings in Colombo. You enter the building to see a stately koi pond surrounded by rustic walk ways and stone walls open to the stars. This one is inspired by this indoor/outdoor living style and the stately fish in Gallery Café’s pond.
